[A] Human Resource Manager

We are currently seeking an energetic and driven individual to fill the role of Human Resource Manager. As the Human Resource Manager you will engage in, and manage all aspects of the employee experience. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter and strives for excellence.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provide recommendations, guidance and support to supervisors and management on all human resource matters.
  • Create, update and administer Company policies and procedures ensuring adherence to the provincial legislation and collective agreement.
  • Liaise with Company and Union leadership on all labour and union related matters.
  • Oversee, initiate and coordinate full cycle recruitment activities.
  • Oversee, initiate and coordinate all employment lifecycle related activities.
  • Oversee, initiate and coordinate all health and safety related policies and activities ensuring they meet current legislation.
  • Oversee and administer all payroll, compensation and benefit administration activities.
  • Identify, coordinate or create all training related activities for staff.
  • Coordinate all Company social activities.

  Skills and Qualifications:

 Required:  

  • The ideal candidate will have post-secondary education in a related Human Resources field or a relevant combination of education and experience.
  • At least five years of progressive Human Resources generalist experience with three years at a leadership level.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive, collaborative, professional working relationships with all levels of the organization.
  • Motivated self-starter with strong organizational and planning skills with the capability of working within a fast paced, team oriented environment while managing shifting priorities.
  • Excellent verbal, written (detail oriented) and listening skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, Payroll and HR systems.
  • Familiarity with legislation (Employment Standards, Workplace Safety and Health Act & Regulations, Human Rights Code, Labour Relations Act, etc.). 

Preferred: 

  • At least three years of work-related experience in a unionized environment.
  • CPHR or CPHR Candidate designation an asset.
  • Work-related experience in a manufacturing environment.

 

 

[B] Software Developer  

VAW is currently seeking an energetic and talented Software Developer to join our team in Winnipeg. This individual will help us continue the development of our Silencer Design Software and Manufacturing Support Software. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, strives for excellence and writes efficient maintainable code.

Skills and Qualifications: 

Required: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • 3 to 5 years of programing experience
  • An equivalent combination of work experience and education maybe considered
  • Thorough knowledge of MS VB.net & SQL Server

[C] Sales and Applications Engineering    

VAW Systems is growing and currently seeking an energetic and sales minded individual to fill the role of Sales and Application Engineering. Working with our sales team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for providing product design solutions for our customer’s noise control requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work with customers and internal team members to identify, develop and deliver value added, customer driven products and solutions
  • Provide sales support by acting as a liaison with customers (educating on product selection/use, providing feedback with regards to future contract status, questions or issues with quotations or Silencer Selection Software, etc.)
  • Prepare accurate and concise quotations and submittal drawings that are devised to reflect the customers’ requirements
  • Obtain a balance between satisfying customer needs with that of the need to achieve company objectives
  • Manage assigned customer quotations (RFQ / RFI) under the supervision of the Sales Manager
  • Facilitate Quotation / Contract Review Meetings as required
  • Maintain accurate paperwork that communicates all project details and information to other departments
  • Gain familiarity with market needs and trends through customer calls and industry contacts

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • The ideal candidate would hold a degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or a diploma in Engineering Building Design or Mechanical Technology and would also have a minimum of 5 years of work related experience
  • Excellent English communication skills: verbal, reading comprehension, writing, negotiating and listening
  • Customer and results focused, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Hands on problem solver, engaged leader and team player with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Work-related experience and knowledge of industrial/commercial fans and noise control
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, MS Office

[D] Technologist, Project Management 

VAW Systems is growing and currently seeking an energetic and driven individual to fill the role of Technologist, Project Management. As a Technologist, Project Management you will manage assigned projects and process customer orders.  The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Check and process orders in compliance with contract specifications and Company policies
  • Prepare Submittal / Certified drawings and Engineering drawings
  • Ensure tasks are prioritized and completed within timelines
  • Proactively identify, assess and manage project risks
  • Facilitate Contract Review Meetings as required on non–standard projects between engineering, production, R & D, Sales and Quality
  • Prepare Release packages for production/fabrication of orders
  • Review and approve Billing once project is shipped and complete
  • Advise customers of order status of projects as required to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist customer with any questions they may have on order, specific product or software
  • Help customers with issues that may arise after job has shipped to site and been installed – (quality, installation and freight issues) 

Skills and Qualifications: 

Required: 

  • The ideal candidate would be a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology with 1-5 years of experience
  • Certified Technologist, or eligible for certification with CTTAM an asset
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office
  • Excellent English communication skills: verbal, reading comprehension, writing, negotiating and listening

[E] Welder / Fitter

VAW is growing and looking for experienced Welder/Fitter to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility.  We have openings on our Monday to Friday evening shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.).  

Responsibilities:  

  • Demonstrate welding & fitting capabilities
  • Carry out welding operations, including reading blueprints and weld symbols
  • Ability to create product that meets our customer’s expectations
  • Position will predominately be welding however there may be times when flexibility to perform other duties will be required. 

Skills and Qualifications: 

  • The ideal candidate will have completed welding training at a vocational or technical training facility
  • 3-5+ years of MIG welding & fitting experience in a custom metal fabrication environment
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures, practices and weld symbols
  • Proficient at reading blueprints and using metric tape measure
  • Safety focused
  • Must be organized, proactive and interact in a positive and respectful manner with co-workers
  • Must obtain all required C.W.B. tickets within 3 months (various materials & positions). VAW will facilitate the testing
  • C.W.B. transferable welding tickets are an asset
  • Knowledge of industrial/commercial fans, noise control and HVAC systems are assets
  • Knowledge of Lean principles an asset
