A)  Technologist, Project Management 

VAW Systems is growing and currently seeking an energetic and driven individual to fill the role of Technologist, Project Management. As a Technologist, Project Management you will manage assigned projects and process customer orders.  The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Check and process orders in compliance with contract specifications and Company policies
  • Prepare Submittal / Certified drawings and Engineering drawings
  • Ensure tasks are prioritized and completed within timelines
  • Proactively identify, assess and manage project risks
  • Facilitate Contract Review Meetings as required on non–standard projects between engineering, production, R & D, Sales and Quality
  • Prepare Release packages for production/fabrication of orders
  • Review and approve Billing once project is shipped and complete
  • Advise customers of order status of projects as required to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist customer with any questions they may have on order, specific product or software
  • Help customers with issues that may arise after job has shipped to site and been installed – (quality, installation and freight issues)

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • The ideal candidate would be a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology with 1-5 years of experience
  • Certified Technologist, or eligible for certification with CTTAM an asset
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office
  • Excellent English communication skills: verbal, reading comprehension, writing, negotiating and listening
  • Customer and results focused, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement

Preferred:

B)  Sales and Applications Engineering 

VAW is currently seeking an energetic and sales minded individual to fill the role of Sales and Application Engineering. Working with our sales team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for providing product design solutions for our customer’s noise control requirements. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with customers and internal team members to identify, develop and deliver value added, customer driven products and solutions
  • Provide sales support by acting as a liaison with customers (educating on product selection/use, providing feedback with regards to future contract status, questions or issues with quotations or Silencer Selection Software, etc.)
  • Prepare accurate and concise quotations and submittal drawings that are devised to reflect the customers’ requirements
  • Obtain a balance between satisfying customer needs with that of the need to achieve company objectives
  • Manage assigned customer quotations (RFQ / RFI) under the supervision of the Sales Manager
  • Facilitate Quotation / Contract Review Meetings as required
  • Maintain accurate paperwork that communicates all project details and information to other departments
  • Gain familiarity with market needs and trends through customer calls and industry contacts

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • The ideal candidate would hold a degree in Architectural or Mechanical Engineering or a diploma in Engineering Building Design or Mechanical Technology, and would also have a minimum of 5 years of work related experience

C)  Sales and Project Administrator  

VAW is currently seeking an energetic and driven individual to fill the role of Sales and Project Administrator. You will be responsible for providing administrative support to our Sales and Project Management teams. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Sales order entries, customer acknowledgements, project file creation and distribution
  • Customer liaison to obtain complete sales information (i.e. shipping addresses, shipping confirmations, etc.)
  • Review of purchase orders and backlog entries
  • Compilation, maintenance and distribution of various spreadsheets
  • Sales and Marketing activities including: website updates, social media posts, marketing and trade show material review and coordination
  • File management of completed projects
  • Other duties as required

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate would hold an Administrative or Office Assistant certificate or a diploma
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of administrative experience
  • Familiarity with social media platforms preferred
  • Key boarding skills: min 60 WPM
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organized and thorough
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Customer service focused with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office and ERP Systems

 

D)  Design / Manufacturing Engineer 

VAW is currently seeking an energetic and talented individual to fill the role of Design / Manufacturing Engineer. Working with our Engineering team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for designing and creating detailed manufacturing drawings of our custom equipment. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate with customers to establish performance and design criteria
  • Interpret customer specifications
  • Develop and document design concepts
  • Create manufacturing drawing packages, including: assembly & part drawings, flat pattern development, shear lists & bill of materials
  • Standardize and improve existing product designs
  • Support VAW’s continuous improvement initiatives

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of product design and manufacturing engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience using AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Self-motivated, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Problem-solver with the proven ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with Inventor Solid Modeling software
  • Experience in a sheet metal manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of building and construction standards, codes and specifications

 

E) Welder/Fitters

VAW Systems is looking for experienced Welder/Fitters to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility.  We have openings on our Monday to Friday evening (4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.) and midnight (12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.) shifts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Demonstrate welding & fitting capabilities
  • Carry out welding operations, including reading blueprints and weld symbols
  • Ability to create product that meets our customer’s expectations
  • Position will predominately be welding however there may be times when flexibility to perform other duties will be required

SKILLS and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The ideal candidate will have completed welding training at a vocational or technical training facility
  • 3-5+ years of MIG welding & fitting experience in a custom metal fabrication environment
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures, practices and weld symbols
  • Proficient at reading blueprints and using metric tape measure
  • Safety focused
  • Must be organized, proactive and interact in a positive and respectful manner with co-workers
  • Must obtain all required C.W.B. tickets within 3 months (various materials & positions). VAW will facilitate the testing
  • C.W.B. transferable welding tickets are an asset
  • Knowledge of industrial/commercial fans, noise control and HVAC systems are assets
  • Knowledge of Lean principles an asset

 

F)  Designer

VAW is currently seeking an energetic and talented individual to fill the role of Designer. Working with our Engineering team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for designing and creating detailed manufacturing drawings of our custom equipment.   • Create manufacturing drawing packages, including: assembly & part drawings, flat pattern development, shear lists & bill of materials

  • Minimum 3 years of product design and manufacturing design experience

  • Problem-solver with the proven ability to meet goals and deadlines
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
