Overview

FANSIL is a free, user-friendly acoustic analysis tool created by VAW Systems; it’s an industry-leading silencer selection software that works with a wide range of fan silencers and supporting equipment. We’ve made FANSIL simple to use with a straightforward interface. There are several videos available to help you use FANSIL, and our team is always willing to lend you a hand if you need further guidance.

Our FANSIL software has been used in the industrial noise control industry for over 35 years, and it’s constantly being updated by our team of experts. The software allows you to select the perfect fan silencer using fan sound power levels, sound pressure levels at a known location, or using the required attenuation.

FANSIL is designed to help select silencers for high pressure blowers, as well as centrifugal and axial fans.  Mechanical engineers and acoustic consultants throughout North America rely on Fansil for reliable fan silencer selections.

Core Features

The core feature of FANSIL is its silencer selection technology. By inputting data about your fan, the system will output information about silencer construction and drawings. The system is designed to allow for the selection of both intake and discharge silencers for centrifugal and axial fans.

Our system also allows you to add relevant equipment, such as flex connectors, filter boxes, mixing boxes, hoods, and duct fittings to the package. FANSIL will then automatically generate silencer information and drawings, including the equipment you selected.

As a web-based tool, FANSIL is being updated regularly with new features—it is continuously updated with new silencer products and relevant equipment produced by VAW Systems.

FANSIL allows for unparalleled granularity; you can choose your required level of noise reduction, the distance of the fan system to the receiver, and even the position of the receiver relative to the fan system. Fan information is also highly customizable, as is the silencer construction and any silencer accessories.

Our software allows you to choose between standard industrial silencers (with 14 gauge casings or heavier), and light-industrial silencers (with 10 to 16 gauge casings).

Who FANSIL Is For

Industrial Fan OEMs

Industrial fan OEMs are constantly looking for new ways to improve the functionality of their fans, all while reducing production costs. FANSIL can help OEMs developing new industrial fans determine how to build those fans; by adjusting parameters like connection diameters, operating temperature, flow rate, static pressure, and fan sound power, OEMs can determine the types of silencers and related equipment that are best suited to their fans. Our industrial silencers can be directly integrated into fan systems sold by OEMs.

Equipment Sales Representatives

Commercial and industrial clients must constantly consider the level of sound being generated by fan systems. Equipment sales representatives who want to create a more attractive fan system package can use FANSIL to find the best silencers to include in an equipment package.

Acoustic Consultants

Acoustic consultants strive to identify the most cost-effective noise reduction solutions for their clients; when fan systems are generating excessive noise, it’s crucial to find a silencer package that offers the right level of noise reduction without compromising the efficiency of the fan system. FANSIL was designed to do just that, making it a perfect choice for acoustic consultants.

Mechanical Engineers

Mechanical engineers often have the technical expertise required to select and install silencers but might not have the time to manually draw silencer packages themselves—or even time to design the solution. FANSIL handles silencer package information and drawings on your behalf—simply input the information about your fan system, your desired silencer and equipment, and the desired noise reduction. FANSIL does the rest.

Case Studies and Applications

FANSIL is used by stakeholders throughout the industry in order to improve silencer selection. Our own engineers use FANSIL to improve silencer selection; this software was built, in part, because it made our lives easier. We realized an incredibly useful tool and have opted to offer it to anyone interested in improving their silencer selection. FAQ

Are there paint finishes and surface protection options available?  Yes, several paint finishes and surface protection options are available.

Can I select a silencer for a high-temperature system?  Yes! Temperatures are one of the factors you can adjust in FANSIL.

How are the silencers supported?  Depending on the system requirements, the fan may be supported from the fan flange or support legs may be automatically added for either a horizontal or vertical installation

How are silencers selected? Silencers are selected using one of three different options: Fan sound power levels, sound pressure levels at a known location, or specifying the required insertion loss.

How are flexible connectors selected?  Two options are available to select flexible connectors: Construction type or determining the construction type required based on a required breakout noise level (built-in breakout noise calculation).
