DESIGNER (NEW GRADUATE)

VAW Systems seeks an energetic and talented individual to fill the role of Designer. Working with our Engineering team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for designing and creating detailed manufacturing drawings of our custom equipment. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence. 

Responsibilities:

  • Create manufacturing drawing packages, including assembly & part drawings, flat pattern development, shear lists & bill of materials
  • Develop and document design concepts
  • Standardize and improve existing product designs
  • Support VAW’s continuous improvement initiatives

 

Skills and Qualifications:

Required:

  • Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma
  • Experience using AutoCAD and MS Office

TECHNOLOGIST, PROJECT MANAGEMENT

VAW Systems continues to grow and is currently seeking an energetic and driven individual to fill the role of Technologist, Project Management. As a Technologist, Project Management you will manage assigned projects and process customer orders.  The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Check and process orders in compliance with contract specifications and Company policies
  • Prepare Submittal / Certified drawings and Engineering drawings
  • Ensure tasks are prioritized and completed within timelines
  • Proactively identify, assess and manage project risks
  • Facilitate Contract Review Meetings as required on non–standard projects between engineering, production, R & D, Sales and Quality
  • Prepare Release packages for production/fabrication of orders
  • Review and approve Billing once project is shipped and complete
  • Advise customers of order status of projects as required to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Assist customer with any questions they may have on order, specific product or software
  • Help customers with issues that may arise after job has shipped to site and been installed – (quality, installation and freight issues)

Skills and Qualifications:

Required

  • The ideal candidate would be a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology with 1-5 years of experience
  • Mathematical aptitude
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office

WELDER / FITTER

VAW Systems continues to grow and is looking for experienced Welder/Fitters to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility.  We have openings on our Monday to Friday Day Shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.).

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate welding & fitting capabilities
  • Carry out welding operations, including reading blueprints and weld symbols
  • Ability to create product that meets our customer’s expectations
  • Position will predominately be welding however there may be times when flexibility to perform other duties will be required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have completed welding training at a vocational or technical training facility
  • 3-5+ years of MIG welding & fitting experience in a custom metal fabrication environment
  • Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures, practices and weld symbols
  • Proficient at reading blueprints and using metric tape measures
  • Safety focused
  • Must be organized, proactive and interact in a positive and respectful manner with co-workers
  • Must obtain all required C.W.B. tickets within 6 months (various materials & positions). VAW will facilitate the testing
  • C.W.B. transferable welding tickets are an asset

SHEET METAL FABRICATOR

VAW is looking for experienced Sheet Metal Fabricators to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility. We have openings on our Monday to Friday Day Shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.).

Responsibilities:

  • Read engineering drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates
  • Operate machines such as shears, brakes, CNC plasma cutter, punches, and drill presses, to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
  • Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
  • Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment is a requirement
  • Ability to interpret drawings and sketches
  • Ability to safely operate overhead crane and forklift
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, including a metric tape measure
  • Safety focused

BLASTER

VAW Systems is looking for an experienced Blaster to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility. We have an opening on our Monday to Friday Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.). 

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, trouble-shoot and operate the grit blasting equipment
  • Train other employees in the set-up and operation of the grit blasting equipment
  • Ensure quality control is maintained to the established standards
  • Operate all paint application equipment for standard primer
  • Assembly of product
  • Assist Finishing when required by having basic paint guns skills with minimum supervision
  • Perform final assembly of products such as installing gaskets, hardware, and bird screens with minimum supervision as required
  • Possess the skills and abilities to consistently produce high quality products and set an example for Helpers
  • Demonstrate safe operation of equipment
  • Ensure quality control is maintained to the established standards
  • Must demonstrate a high level of productivity

  • Some painting experience would be an asset
  • Ideally 2 years of blasting experience

VAW Systems is looking for experienced Sheet Metal Assemblers to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility. We have openings on our Monday to Friday Day Shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.).

Responsibilities:

  • Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting, or tack welding to fabricate products

INDUSTRIAL COATINGS APPLICATOR

VAW Systems is looking for experienced Industrial Coatings Applicators to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility. We have openings on our Monday to Friday Day Shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.).

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate conventional and airless spray equipment
  • Maintain and clean all painting equipment, grit blasting equipment and finishing area
  • Set up and operate the grit blasting equipment
  • Ability to mix and apply various coating systems (i.e. epoxy, zinc, urethanes, etc.)
  • Ability to read and interpret paint data sheets
  • Prepare product for painting
  • Perform final assembly of products
  • Ability to work on ladders and at various heights

Skills and Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have completed training at a vocational or technical training facility
  • Ideally 2+ years of painting and coating experience
  • Min 2 years’ experience with the following:
    • Ability to mix and apply Epoxies, Zincs, Polyurethanes and enamels
    • Ability to use conventional and airless spray equipment
    • Ability to use wet WFT gauge as well as electronic DFT gauge
    • Ability to read and understand Product Data Sheets
    • Ability to operate Sandblast equipment

SHIPPER RECEIVER ASSISTANT

VAW continues to grow and is looking for  Shipper-Receiver-Assistants to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility. We have an opening on our Monday to Friday day shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Monday to Friday evening shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.).

Responsibilities:

  • Shipping, receiving, receiving inspection and final inspection duties
  • Operate a forklift to load and unload products from trucks and to move materials within the shop
  • Build pallets and crates for shipping
  • Crate and package product in preparation for shipment
  • Operate the overhead crane for material handling

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Ability to safely operate overhead crane and forklift
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools, including a metric tape measure

ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN

VAW continues to grow and is looking for Assembly Technicians to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility. We have an opening on our Monday to Friday Day Shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Monday to Friday Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.)

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the assembly hardware cage contents
  • Configure and construct packages and crating
  • Configure and sew belts for flex connectors and insulation bags
  • Interpret electrical schematics and install associated components
  • Interpret plumbing system drawings and install associated components
  • Interpret complex assembly drawings and install associated components
  • Operate the overhead crane for material handling
  • Perform final assembly of products

In addition, the successful candidate must possess the following qualifications:

VAW Systems is looking for Shop Helpers to join our fast paced, safety focused, custom manufacturing facility.  We have openings on our Monday to Friday Day Shift (7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.) and Evening Shift (4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m.). 

Responsibilities:

  • Build pallets and crates for shipping
  • Crate and package product in preparation for shipment
  • Material handling
  • Clean and scrape welded products in preparation for painting
  • Insulating or bagging insulation
  • Assemble components and products
  • Perform final assembly of components such as attaching bird screens, installing air filters and doors, installing gaskets, etc.
  • Operate grit blaster
  • Provide assistance to others as required

Skills and Qualifications:
