What You’ll Do:
- Build pallets and crates for shipping
- Crate and package products for shipment
- Material handling
- Clean and scrape welded products prior to painting
- Insulate or bag insulation
- Assemble products and components
- Perform final assembly of components (e.g., attach bird screens, install air filters, doors, gaskets, etc.)
- Operate grit blasting equipment
- Support other team members as needed

What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment preferred
- Comfortable using hand and power tools
- Ability to operate an overhead crane and forklift (training will be provided)
- Familiarity with reading technical drawings and sketches is a strong asset
- Experience with MIG welding and mixing and applying coating systems is an asset
- Comfortable working on ladders and at heights
- Strong attention to safety
- Possess the skills and abilities to consistently produce high quality products and ensure quality control is maintained to the established standards
- Must be organized, flexible, proactive, and interact in a positive and respectful manner in a team environment

What You’ll Do:
- Carry out fitting and welding operations, including reading blueprints and weld symbols
- Set up and operate all required welding machines
- Produce high-quality work that meets our customer’s expectations
- Position will predominately be welding however there may be times when flexibility to perform other duties will be required

What We’re Looking For:
- Successful completion of all VAW’s pre-screening assessments including the VAW Welding Test
- Completion of welding training from a vocational or technical institute preferred
- MIG welding and fitting experience in a custom metal fabrication environment is an asset
- Must obtain all required C.W.B. tickets within 6 months (various materials & positions). VAW will facilitate the testing
- W.B. transferable welding tickets are an asset
- Proficient at reading blueprints and using metric tape measures
- Thorough knowledge of all types of welding procedures, practices and weld symbols
- Strong attention to safety
- Possess the skills and abilities to consistently produce high quality products and ensure quality control is maintained to the established standards

INDUSTRIAL PAINTER

Your Opportunity:

We are currently looking for Day Shift Finishers (7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.).
What You’ll Do:
- Set up and operate conventional and airless spray equipment
- Set up and operate all paint application equipment
- Maintain and clean all painting equipment, grit blasting equipment and finishing area
- Set up and operate the grit blasting equipment
- Ability to mix and apply coating systems without supervision (i.e. epoxy, zinc, urethanes, high temperature coatings, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret paint data sheets
- Prepare product for painting
- Perform final assembly of products
- Ability to work on ladders and at various heights
What We’re Looking For:
- The ideal candidate will have completed training at a vocational or technical training facility
- Ideally 2+ years of painting and coating experience
- Min 2 years’ experience with the following:
- Ability to mix and apply Epoxies, Zincs, Polyurethanes, High Temperature coatings, and enamels
- Ability to use conventional and airless spray equipment
- Ability to use wet WFT gauge as well as electronic DFT gauge
- Ability to read and understand Product Data Sheets
- Ability to operate Sandblast equipment
- Safety focused
- Possess the skills and abilities to consistently produce high quality products and ensure quality control is maintained to the established standards
- Must be organized, flexible, proactive and interact in a positive and respectful manner with co-workers
- Knowledge of industrial/commercial fans, noise control and HVAC systems are assets

- Interpret and read engineering drawings, sketches and work specifications to be performed, and lay out, measure and mark sheet metal according to drawings or templates
- Assemble all products
- Set up and operate spot welders
- Fit and join sheet metal parts using riveting and operate MIG welders in a tacking capacity for commercial products
- Operate machines such as shears, brakes, punches, and drill presses, to cut, bend, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
- Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
- Inspect product quality and installation to ensure conformance to specifications
- Install and use rigging and hoisting equipment
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience in a metal fabrication manufacturing environment preferred

PROJECT MANAGER
VAW Systems continues to grow and is currently seeking an energetic and driven individual to fill the role of Project Manager. As a Project Manager you will manage assigned projects and process customer orders. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Check and process orders in compliance with contract specifications and Company policies
- Prepare Submittal / Certified drawings and Engineering drawings
- Ensure tasks are prioritized and completed within timelines
- Proactively identify, assess and manage project risks
- Facilitate Contract Review Meetings as required on non–standard projects between engineering, production, R & D, Sales and Quality
- Prepare Release packages for production/fabrication of orders
- Review and approve Billing once project is shipped and complete
- Advise customers of order status of projects as required to ensure customer satisfaction
- Assist customer with any questions they may have on order, specific product or software
Skills and Qualifications:
Required
- The ideal candidate would be a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Technology with 1-5 years of experience or relevant work experience
- Mathematical aptitude
- Mechanically inclined
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office
- Excellent English communication skills: verbal, reading comprehension, writing, negotiating and listening
- Customer and results focused, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
Preferred:
- Work-related experience and knowledge of noise control and industrial/commercial fans

DESIGN ENGINEER
VAW seeks an energetic and talented individual to fill the role of Design Engineer. Working with our Engineering team in Winnipeg, this individual will be responsible for supporting the Large Industrial / Turbine Divisions as well as the Engineering Production Team. The ideal candidate thrives in a team environment, is an independent self-starter, and strives for excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to establish performance and design criteria
- Develop and document design concepts
- Evaluate design for structural integrity and manufacturability
- Interpret customer specifications and building codes
- Create manufacturing drawing packages, including assembly & part drawings, flat pattern development, shear lists & bill of materials
- Standardize and improve existing product designs
- Support VAW’s continuous improvement initiatives
- Develop an extensive knowledge of manufacturing capabilities and techniques
Skills and Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Registered with the Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba (EGM) as a Professional Engineer (P. Eng) or an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.)
- 4 – 10 years’ experience in product design and development within a manufacturing environment
- Experience using Inventor, AutoCAD, and MS Office
- Self-motivated, eager to learn, positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
- Problem-solver with the proven ability to meet goals and deadlines and balance the needs of internal and external customers
- Demonstrated strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
